What’s in a name?

Well, Summer is mine. The muse is a little harder to pin down.

It might be a person, a place, an old photograph, a beautifully worn textile, or something entirely unexpected.

I’ve always been drawn to things that don’t necessarily belong together but somehow make perfect sense when they do.

After nine years as Thistle & Bloom, A Summer Muse feels like a natural evolution of the way I’ve always approached design—with curiosity, imagination, and a healthy appreciation for the unexpected.

Considered, never conventional

I’m interested in the whole picture—the way flowers, fabric, paper, lighting, architecture and even empty space relate to one another. I want each element to feel intentional, creating a sense of harmony without feeling overly polished or predictable.

I think about events much like theater: in acts, with moments of anticipation, drama, restraint and discovery. The goal isn’t simply a beautiful space, but an experience that feels like entering another world.

I love details that reveal themselves slowly—a personal reference tucked into a menu, a favorite place reflected in a color or a subtle nod to something meaningful to the couple. Not everything needs to announce itself. Some things are simply there to be discovered.

There is no formula. That’s the point.

Summer took my vision and created our very own colorful, citrus DREAM. She was a blast to work with. She was constantly communicating new ideas, bringing our ideas to life, and made all of our meetings so much fun. She gave suggestions and guided us to what would work best with our venue.
